In partnership with the Australian Business and Community Network, EY collaborated to assist young Australians in developing critical skills, employability, and leadership.
The ABCN Digital Careers Mentorship program was an immersive experience designed to inspire high school students sharing our careers in technology, UX design, and emerging fields. Through interactive sessions, round robin Q&As, and hands-on activities, students engaged directly with professional mentors, explored subjects such as AI and design thinking, and gained practical insights into possible professional pathways.
Our objective and approach
This program aimed to bridge the gap between education and industry by showcasing real-world applications of technology and design.
By connecting students with experienced mentors, the program fostered curiosity, built confidence, and encouraged participants to envision themselves in future tech careers. Sessions were structured to demystify complex topics and make them accessible, relevant, and engaging for young learners.
We regularly host these sessions to help foster a passion for future career paths in high school children.

My team and role
Alongside two other designers, I designed and facilitated a series of workshops for four different schools exploring the basics of design thinking, user research, and prototyping. We ran engaging and practical activities demonstrating the techniques of brainwriting and prototyping to spark creativity and collaboration, and our students had the opportunity to apply these real-world concepts to create their own digital product ideas.
My responsibilities included presenting on UX and technology topics, and guiding students through ideation and Q&A sessions. I ensured that each rotation was inclusive, engaging, and tailored to the students’ interests, helping them connect classroom learning to real-world opportunities.
